Pizza crust recipe

Recipe:

2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast

1 tsp white sugar

1 cup warm whey (leftover from making ricotta and frozen) (substitute warm water if you don’t have whey)

3/4 cup whole wheat flour

1 3/4 cups all purpose flour

2 Tbsp Canola oil

1 tsp salt

1 Tbsp garlic powder

1 Tbsp dried oregano

In your mixer bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water or whey. Let stand until foamy, about 10 minutes.

Stir in flour, salt, herbs and oil using the dough hook attachment. Beat until smooth. Let rest for 5 minutes.

Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round.

Transfer crust to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker’s peel dusted with cornmeal.

Spread with desired toppings and bake in 485°F oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
